I begin this blog at the beginning...talk around the everyday things of life, everyday communication that gets stuck in nuetral. I'm struck by how easily we can misunderstand comments made in haste, communication that gets blocked for some reason or simply communication that doesn't happen. We get busy, tired, sick and talk short hand or worse, don't talk at all. The next we know, the relationship is in trouble.
My clients are especially bruised when they don't know why so and so is not talking to them. Or why their husbands or wives are acting in a way that is out of character for them. Maybe they just arn't talking at all and the simplest fix of all is to ask them, "what the heck is going on?" Simple enough, but many times the road to that fix is long in coming.
